The Ultimate Cause Of Creation
One day, I commanded him as part of my work :
Hey Ram! Here is a complicated stuff! Your other friends have failed to do it. Take the material from the rack and finish it on your machine. It is required soon for an assembly."
After some time with the finished component in hand, Ram came to me and said "Sir, Here it is! The job you had given me. Please inspect it" - saying, he kept it on my table. I went through the piece and the drawing a was to the desired specifications.
"Oh! Ram! Congratulations! I know you are an efficient guy. It is a perfect execution! An excellent creation!" Ram smiled and acknowledged my warm words. With all his humility he said "Sir, the credit does not go to me entirely; the raw materials and the machine aided me in shaping this component into a beauty"
They too are causes, for this creation"
Ram's words made me to think.
"Causes for the creation" I came to know the raw material, the material cause; the machine, the instrument cause, and Ram, the human who has handled both efficiently is the efficient cause.
The trinity of causes occurred to my mind.
My heart leapt with joy at the new discovery on hand.
"Look! Look around!" - my thoughts provoked me.
I looked around and saw. I could see only these three causes in shaping whatever I could see - be it my table or chair, be it the tool or the machine, be it a clock on the wall, be it the roof below which I stay - I could recognize only these three causes at play. It was lovely! Lovely everywhere!
Having grown suddenly intelligent. I craved to hunt for the cause for the causes, the parent cause, the ultimate cause, the cause for all this creation around me.
I was driven to a joyous pensive mood.
Some thing fell on my head from above, which woke me up to my mundane world.
I looked up and saw a spider weaving his web. It soon received my admiration. The cobweb - it was a nice creation!
"What are the causes for the creation of this web?" - I asked to myself.
"Look! The material cause, the instrumental cause and the efficient cause - all rolled in one, in that tiny spider!" - I grinned.
The spider looked at me and smiled.
"Look, my dear friend. The creator you are on the look out, is like me, having all the causes rolled in ONE - it said, weaving the web.
My joy knew no bounds listening to the new precept delivered by this tiny creature.
"Yathorananaabhi Srwate Gruhnath Cha" - Mundakopanishad.
"As the spider emits and withdraws the web, so from the imperishable being, the Universe springs out"
