I am The Intelligence Of The Intelligent

Tejomayananda, Intelligence
Pujya Swami Tejomayanandaji, the head of Chinmaya Mission, world wide conducted a Satsang on January 13, 20 I 0 at NMKRV Women's' College, Jayanagar, Bangalore on the subject entitled "I am the Intelligence of the Intelligent".

Everything in God's creation has intelligence. Birds fly from far off places without losing direction. Without map or a resting place, they move from one place to another. When we observe every animal carefully, we find that they use their intelligence to get the desired result. It is because of this intelligence, all animals are able to face life's challenges.

Man being the roof and crown of creation, can live his life more consciously and he can also transform himself. All human beings are blessed with this intelligence, but all are not called intelligent. To be intelligent is different from having intelligence.

Just because we carry violin, we are not violinist but a violin carrier. Just because I have a musical instrument, I am not called a musician. Then how do we use our intelligence? We have seen that intelligence is there everywhere. Whose attribute is this intelligence?

Intelligence is

1.Property of matter (Brain) - Ignorance
2.Due to my personality (Ego) – Arrogance
3. Due to supreme Lord - Devotion

Buddhi is Bhagawan's Vibhuti (Glory) "Bhuti" is being. When that being appears in a special manifestation, That is Vibhuti.

Eg: Plain water is 'Bhuti'

Water content is the same - Similarly' I am' - Being, Consciousness is common. When can a person be called intelligent? Taittiriya upanishad gives the anatomy of intellect.

Let us imagine a physical body for our intellect. 'Sraddha' is the head and right arm is 'Satyam'. The middle portions ,Yoga and the feet (Puccham) is the total intellect (Mahat).

'Rutam' is understanding the truth about something through reasoning. 'Satyam' is manifestation of the truth in our life. We are all aware of the various values in our life, when we only understand them as values. But when it is actually manifest in our life, it is a virtue. Our determination to understand truth and follow it is based on our faith.

Only if a person has Sraddha, He can know the truth. To gain knowledge, a Pramana is required and we have to have faith in that Pramana. Our whole life is one of knowing and doing. Our faith motivates us to know and to do. When our actions are in accordance with our knowledge, then our knowledge is bright.

Absorption of mind in the knowledge that we have gained - is called 'Yoga'. "Mahat Puccham Pratishta" Our individual intellect must be rooted in the total intellect. If an individuals intellect is rooted in total intellect, then that persons thinking is called right thinking. On the other hand, if thought arises from personal desires, it is wrong thinking. When we identify with a larger cause and ultimately to the Lord, will of the supreme manifests.
