The wise men and Sages of ancient India allotted a day of the week to worship a particular God. It is believed that prayers and poojas to the God on the day dedicated to them pleases them easily and helps you to reap good benefits.

Wednesday is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The devotees of Lord Krishna go to the temples that are dedicated to him. They often keep vrats and fasts to please the Lord. The temples that are dedicated to Lord Krishna have special poojas and rituals performed on Wednesdays.

At home, devotees bathe early in the morning. They purify the pooja area and perform an elaborate pooja to please Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna is offered Tulsi leaves which is his favourite. He is also offered food items such as plantains, sugar and butter. Satsangs are done in a gathering of devotees. Bhajans and Keertans dedicated to Lord Krishna are sung.

This Mantra is one of the most popular mantras chanted on Wednesdays. There are many other mantras that are chanted to exalt Lord Krishna. Today, we bring to you a hymn dedicated to Lord Krishna. This Hymn can be chanted every day by a devotee of Lord Krishna.

Chanting it on a Wednesday will earn you the blessings and grace of Lord Krishna. The hymn we bring to you today is called the Sri Krishna Stotram. Read on to find the verses of the stotra and the meaning behind it.

Sri Krishna Stotram

Vande nava Ghana syamam, peetha kouseya vasasam,

Vande nava Ghana syamam, peetha kouseya vasasam,

Sanandam sundaram shudham, Sri Krishnam prakruthe param.

"I bow before Lord Sri Krishna who is of the colour of dark clouds. I bow before him who is adorned with Yellow clothes, the one who is beautiful, pure and forever happy."

Radhesam Radhika prana vallabham, vallavee sutham,

Radhesam Radhika prana vallabham, vallavee sutham,

Radha sevitha padabjam, Radha vaksha sthala sthiham.

"I bow before Lord Sri Krishna who is the basis of all creation. He is the son of Yashoda. He is the Lord of Radha and is the master of her soul."

Radhanugam Radhikesam Radhanuka manasam,

Radhanugam Radhikesam Radhanuka manasam,

Radhadharam bhavadharam sarvadharam namami tham.

"I serve the Lord Sri Krishna who is served forever by Radha. He lives in the mind of Radha and always accompanies her. He is the almighty of Radha and her mind is only attracted by him. O Lord Krishna who takes care of Radha, please take care of our lives too."

Radha hruth padma madhye cha vasantham santhatham shubham,

Radha hruth padma madhye cha vasantham santhatham shubham,

Radha saha charam saswadradagna paripalakam.

"You forever live in the midst of the lotus like heart of Radha. You are the pure one, the one who is fore ever lovely and always performs good deeds. You are the constant companion of Radha and always listen and obey to her wishes."

Dhyayanthe yogino yogath sidha, sidheswarascha yam,

Dhyayanthe yogino yogath sidha, sidheswarascha yam,

Tham dhyayeth santhatham shudham bhagawantham sanathanam.

"Great yogis meditate upon you with the power of their yoga. You are remembered by the powers of the experts in occult traditions. You are the one who has no death. You shall never face destruction."

Sevantha sathatham santho brahmesa sesha samgnaka,

Sevantha sathatham santho brahmesa sesha samgnaka,

Sevanthe nirgunam. brahma bhagawantham sanathanam.

"You are served by wise men and great Gods like Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva. Sages and Saints attain moksha by chanting your name. You are without form and the basis of truth. You are not bound by properties of the creation."

Nirliptham cha nireham cha paramanandameeswaram,

Nirliptham cha nireham cha paramanandameeswaram,

Nithyam sathyamcha paramam bhagawantham sanathanam.

"You are forever, perennial and are not tied by bonds to anything. You do not have wishes or desires and are just pure bliss. You are forever, you are the truth, and you shall exist always."

Yam sreshteradhi bhoothancha sarva bheejam parath param,

Yam sreshteradhi bhoothancha sarva bheejam parath param,

Yoginastham prapadhyanthe bhagawantham sanathanam.

"You have existed before everything was created and you are the reason that led to creation. You are the reason behind the various incarnations."

Bheejam nanavatharanam sarva karana karanam,

Bheejam nanavatharanam sarva karana karanam,

Vedha vedhyam veda bheejam Veda karana karanam.

"You are the seed of everything. You are the cause of all causes. Even the Vedas cannot describe you completely. You are the one who is the reason and cause of the creation of Vedas."
