Popular Indian Embroidered Art That You Need To Know 

This artform has originated in Persia by the Mughals. There are 36 types of stitches and include different motifs and floral patterns.

1. Chikankari

This originated from Gujarat and Rajasthan  and has small pieces of mirrors sewn together between threadwork and embroidery designs.

2. Shisha Or Mirrorwork

This has also originated in Persia and there is a use of gold and silver threads and this artwork can be seen mainly in Uttar Pradesh.

4. Toda

This artwork has usually nature inspired motifs and are a part of Toda culture of Nilgiri Hills, Tamil Nadu.

5. Kashidakari

This is a popular Kashmiri embroidery and has its roots in Persia. The colourful chain stitches are mostly done on silk and wool.

6. Phulkari

Phulkari work is seen mostly in Punjab and the artwork or stitching is done on the reverse side of the fabric.
