Sundal is a South Indian recipe that is generally prepared as an evening snack. White chana sundal is also prepared during festive seasons and offered to God as naivedyum. In most South Indian temples, the sundal is distributed to people after prayers.

Kondakadalai sundal, as it is known in Tamil Nadu, is famously sold on beaches and streets as a nibble. The chana sundal is a dry snack that has the crunch of the chana filled with the flavours of various spices added to it. On usual days, onions are added to give it more flavour; however, during festivals it is strictly avoided.

Chickpeas sundal is quick and easy to prepare once the chana is soaked. White chana is rich in iron and protein and is packed with rich nutrients. So, if you are looking for something healthy to munch, sundal is the ideal snack.
