Well, did you know that there are certain things that a parent needs to educate their teens about, specially nowadays? Yes, it is sex education!
We can all admit that, these days, teenagers gain more exposure too soon and they want to experiment, so many of them do become sexually active sooner!
So, as parents, it is important to guide our children in the right direction and let them know about certain safety tips, that can help them stay healthy and make their lives less complicated.
Teenage pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases among teens have been on the rise lately.
So, even though it is said that sex education is imparted to the teens at their schools, it is the responsibility of the parents to make sure their teens understand the concept.
So, here are a few tips to give sex education to your teens in an effective way.
Tip #1
Firstly, when talking about topics related to sex to your teenager, make sure that you do it in a way that you do not embarrass your teen. Ideally, it should be done in private!
Tip #2
Be direct when you are talking about sex to your teen, because, if you try to beat around the bush, you may not be able to get your point across.
Tip #3
Avoid preaching. Be open-minded and non-judgemental, just keeping the health and safety of your teen in mind while talking to them.
Tip #4
It is also important to talk to them about sex and give them safety tips right in their early teens, so that they can become aware and avoid certain mishaps.
Tip #5
Ensure that you tell your teen about the various consequences of having unprotected sex, different forms of contraceptions, etc., in a composed manner.
Tip #6
If you feel uncomfortable to talk to your teen about sex education, then do consider taking them to a professional counsellor who can help.
Tip #7
Allow your teen to express their opinions and concerns on this matter, and let it not just be a one-way talk session!
