This is the third book in the series and captures Maya Angelou's rise to fame as a night club dancer. This is the time round when she released her first album 'Miss Calypso'.
The Heart Of A Woman
This is the fourth book in the series that describes Angelou's career as a writer and her travels to New York, Ghana and Cairo. The main motif of this book is her role as mother as she now has a teenage son whom she has to raise. The book ends when her son sets of to college leaving Angelou 'free' to pursue her own life.
All God's Children Need Traveling Shoes
In the fifth book of the series, Maya Angelou takes spiritual turn. It has something to do with her son's tragic accident and the atrocities she has seen in Ghana.
Poems
Maya Angelou was a devoted poet throughout her life. In fact, she was the only poet called upon to recite a poem in the White House during Bill Clinton's time after Robert Frost. The collection of her poems will surely be remembered in the times to come.
Mom & Me
This is the last and 7th book in the series of autobiographical novels that Maya Angelou has written. It was released on Mother's Day just before Angelou turned 85 in 2013. This book is a tribute to her mother who had abandoned Angelou as a child. But it tells the story from her mother's angle and puts the events in their life in perspective.
