Aditi Mangaldas' Tribute To Siegward Sprotte

‘Now Is' is a simultaneous dialogue between Dance, Music and Painting that feature the paintings of renowned artist Siegward Sprotte, a renowned German Artist. Sprotte, the painter and philosopher has always had a strong interest in the "Now". Doing was always more important than the "Done". He stated that all creative doing stems from the alertness in the "Now". As an artist, Sprotte was greatly inspired by the philosopher J. Krisnamurti and so it was decided to hold an exhibition of his work in India.

The music is by Shubha Mudgal & Aneesh Pradhan. The images of the paintings of Siegward Sprotte were filmed by national award winning documentary film maker Vani Subramanium along with Surajit Sarkar. The lights were designed by Fabiana Piccioli and Costumes by Kimie Nakano.

‘Now Is' enthralled the audience with its open ended simultaneous dialogue; where each moment created a different experience and emphasized on living more in the NOW. The amalgamation between the three art forms i.e. painting, music, and dance explored the timeless present and built curiosity among the audience to know, "Can one live creatively and live in the ‘Now'?

Post her performance, Aditi Mangaldas said, "My association with the German Artist Siegward Sprotte goes back many years. His work had always held great fascination for me and I felt compelled to pay tribute to his 100 years by a production in which what he valued most, "simultaneous dialogue" could be explored through his work, dance and music."

Following this premiere of ‘Now Is,' Tao Art Gallery in association with Falkenstern Fine Art & Atelier Sprotte will present the renowned German artist Siegward Sprotte - watercolours and oils, never exhibited before in India, from November 23 - December 5, 2012. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Dr. Gaedeke, Director - County Museum Schloss Gottorf, Schleswig Holstein, Germany along with Mrs. Kalpana Shah, owner of the Tao Art Gallery.

The exhibition was curated under the premise of bringing together some of Sprotte's best work in form, calligraphy and colour. As a celebration of Sprotte's 100th birthday, art-admirers will get a glimpse of his masterpiece paintings spanning seventy five years, including some of the paintings from the series "Aditi Dancing" dedicated to the renowned Kathak dancer Aditi Mangaldas.
