World's Most Interesting Hobbies

What are your hobbies and interests? Is it the regular question which you are asked in all the interviews? Yes it is. Though these are widely used terms, we tend to mix up the meaning. Interest is something which we like when it comes across to us. We would like to get engaged with it whenever possible but hobby is something which is a part and parcel of our life. It is a part of our daily routine and we can't do without it.

Hobbies are varied, ranging from the wildest to the most creative and is the most stagnant factor of our life. More may add on to the list but nothing is ever canceled. Hobbies are a great way to de-stress and is the true picture of ourself. Through hobbies one can let out all the emotions. Painters, are said to carve the thoughts of their mind on the canvas.

Lets look at some of the most interesting hobbies of the World -

1.Sand Art - The optimum prove of one's creativity. As children all of us have made sand tombs on the beach but sand art is a a different affair. As you stroll down the beach, you are sure to notice some people building their dreamland with sand. Some relive their happy times, others design the upcoming festivals and few others pay tribute to God's and Goddess. They may break with the splash of the waves or stumble down with strong wind but it leaves an impression on the minds of the onlooker for a lifetime.

2.Vegetable Carving – The main part of food is serving and the main essence of a dish is its garnishing. When we serve food on the table to guests we all try and experiment our skills on garnishing but there are others who like to garnish food every time. This is their hobby. A lamp out of a Watermelon, a fish out of Bringle, Cartoons out of potatoes and flowers out of vegetable peels, is very interesting to be served with.

3.Magic – The very famous magicians P C Sarkar, senior and junior, don't perform magic only on the stage but also in their pass time. Once P C Sarkar senior, visited a friends house and asked for a match stick to light his cigarette. His friend and his family members could not for a match stick in the whole house. They finally gave up and a delighted P C Sarkar on the success of the magical spell on his friend, took a match stick from the kitchen (which was not their few minutes back) and lit his cigarette. Magic was not his profession alone but also his hobby.

4.Chalk Carving – 10,000 words scribbled on a chalk. Heard of this? You may have. People doing this, are not doing it for the sake of attention or money. They do this because it's their hobby. How they scribble these words or how they fit in all the words on the single stick is unimaginable but all we can say is it's true dedication and talent.

5.Collecting Coins – Collecting coins is among the world's top hobbies. The term is very often taken to be the synonym for numismatics. Both of them are related but are different. Numismatics is the study of coins and coin collection is collection coins of al the eras. This hobby originated in Rome and was know to be the hobby of the kings.

6.Body Piercing – Pain can be pleasant for those who take up body piercing as their hobby. In fact Indians have been piercing their earlobes and nose since many years and it is also a part of their custom. But now the art of body piercing have extended to brows, tongue, lips, belle button etc. There are few who take it up for fashion and there are those for whom it is an hobby. They love to experiment by decorating themselves with the art body piercing.


Practicing one's hobby is an individuals way to relax and rejuvenate his senses. Literary people say that hobbies are minds way to escape or deny the harsh truth of the hour. If it is, so be it. As long as something makes a person happy, it's good for him and for the society.
