Lady Teachers Transfer Math Anxiety To Girls

Math Class

The latest studies prove that the lady teachers scared of math, generally pass their anxieties to the girl students. If the teachers are more tensed about the subject, their girl students can be labelled to the group who say that the students of the other gender are good at maths. They may consider themselves good only at reading, not with the science of reasoning. The recent studies conducted by the researchers at the University of Chicago says so.

The girls who are ready to admit such a classification may become worse in math than the others who are not willing to accept this, says the Associate Professor in Psychology and the Committee on Education Principal Investigator at the University of Chicago, sian beilock. He reveals that a math-anxious female teacher can sometimes drive her girl students to the category of those who are unsatisfactory in the subject.

Beilock says that generally the average and the fairly-good students are tend to be influenced by their anxious teachers. Most of the elementary school teachers will be ladies, and if they are anxious about this subject, they may pass this anxiety to the students of the same gender.

The graduation students Elizabeth Gunderson and Gerardo Ramirez are the others who participated in the study. Susan Levine and Stella M. Rowley, the professors of Psychology, Comparative Human Development at the University of Chicago.

“Female Teachers Math Anxiety Affect Girl's Math Achievement", the research conducted by them was published in the Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences.
