Is Loneliness a by-product of Independent living?
Freedom is a constant hankering of the human mind. Independence is the much sought after thing in today's world; independent thinking and independent living. Independent living is slowly expanding its dimension from being curtailed within the frames of conceptualization to a way of living. Sure it is a mode of living that is keeping up in par with the current modern tide, which is necessary but an inevitable fact that needs to be pondered on seriously is loneliness, which is an offshoot of independent living.
Independent living in turn sprouts up from independent thinking. The seeming factor is as our thought pattern is curtailed to a small entity it gives way for more loneliness. The joint family system is a fading picture these days, where loneliness was not known even amongst small family squabbles and disharmonies. Due to the changing times one is pushed to the nuclear way of living rather involuntarily or sometimes one voluntarily seeks to keep people at bay who do not fit into his or her mental frame. In this case, one is not aware of the creeping in loneliness. A little bit of understanding of the fact that all five fingers in one's hand are not made the same way, would help in keeping loneliness at bay.
Another important factor is today's rapid growing work culture, which permits less or no interaction with family or friends. It is necessary to strike the right balance between work and family. A workaholic with an independent disposition rapidly climbing the rungs of the ladder of success does did not have the time for his family. Due to this his family life was affected in shattering his marriage. Despite the fact of a successful career, busy living and sound financial stability, the person is steeped in loneliness.
There are people who are independent and interactive. There are others who are independent and non-interactive. They can easily sail through when everything is fine. But when there is a turn of events they are cocooned to themselves; curled up in their shelves with their bottled up feelings. It is against their independent nature to seek solace by bringing out their feelings. It is then that they realize loneliness hitting them hard.
Tips to keep loneliness at bay
;-
;
- Trying to interact ;
- Balancing work and family ;
- Allotting time for recreation with friends and family ;
- Developing an amicable nature ;
- Trying to locate the positive aspects of other's nature ;
- Trying to understand other's negativities ;
Independence is all about coupling interaction with one's liberal thought pattern if he or she is independent. If one can give room for a little bit of comprehension of the other's attitude towards life, then one is on his way warding away loneliness. After all no man is an island
