Jimmy Nelson, a photographer, spent three years travelling across to different remote places where there is barely any access to the outer world in a quest to explore about some of the last standing tribes that still exist but which are on a verge of extinction.

The Asaro Tribe

This tribe is from Papua, New Guinea. Here the people of the tribe frequently use their mud masks to terrorise people from other villages with occasional early-morning visits.

This tribe is from Guangxi, China. It is the only tribe on earth that still uses the Cormorant fishing technique. To control the birds, these fishermen tie a snare near the base of the bird's throat. This is done to prevent them from swallowing a big fish.

Again from Papua, New Guinea, this is the last standing tribe on a verge of extinction. Different groups in this tribe fight over the land, pigs and women. They are also the largest indigenous group. 'The Huli wigmen', present on earth, paint their faces yellow, red and white. They are also famous for their tradition of making ornamented wigs from their own hair.

This tribe is a descendant of Turkic, Mongolic, and Indo-Iranian indigenous groups. Their territory is populated between Siberia and the Black Sea. They are famous for their ancient art of eagle hunting.

This tribe is from Ethiopia, which is situated in Africa's Great Rift Valley. It is home to an estimated 200,000 indigenous people living there for millennia trading goods among themselves. They're also famous for trading guns and bullets.

This tribe is in Ethiopia and one does not have to be an Ethiopian to become a part of the Dassanech tribe. Everybody is welcome here, as they are open to accept people of any tribe.
