How To Keep Your Books In Good Condition?

By Super Admin

Book reading is a passionate hobby for many people. The book lovers may not care to spend the money to grasp the knowledge treasures at any moment. Even with the advance of online reading, people love to collect the books for a cozy reading. The dilemma arises when they find the corners of their books build up dog ears, a yellow colour spreading to the pages and the ultimate villains bookworms swarm their bookshelves. Here are some easy methods to keep your books in good condition.

1. Books with a paper cover back will get damaged more easily than books with a hard cover. Try to collect a hard covered book if, your budget allows.

2. Once you collect the paper back cover book, don't jump into reading immediately. Take a cellotape and cut it according to the length and width of the book cover. Paste the cellotape at the ends of the book cover in a way that the cellotape will spread to inside and outside of the cover. Don't forget to paste the cellotape at the outer vein of the book. This will give a neat look to your book and save you from the fear of 'dog ears' at the end of reading.

3. The hard coverd books also need protection to keep up their glory. Paste a transparent plastic sheet on their covers in a neat way to protect them from further damages.

4. You must be careful while arranging the book in the bookshelf. It is always better to arrange the books in a vertical way than in the horizontal ray. This will save the pages of the books from getting jammed and becoming thin due to the pressure of above placed books. It will also give you the easy way to access the required book whenever necessary than overturning the whole collection.

5. You must not fit in the books that may not occupy the space of your bookshelf. By doing so the edges of the book will easily get damaged.

6. You must not place the books directly on the bookshelf. Always spread a paper on the book shelf floor and arrange the books on them.

7. Books will develop deterioration and yellow pages due to humidity and cold climatic conditions. Therefore take time to take out all the books and dust them at least once in a month.
