Know the reasons why you should avoid red meat and dairy products during winter.

Bhavishya Wadhwan, Founder at 98FIT and Neha Ranglani Nutritionist and lifestyle educator, opines that it is highly important to reduce the intake of milk and red meat during the winter season.
According to the experts, milk causes phlegm and can lead to the thickening of phlegm already present. This can increase the irritation in the throat, and make you uncomfortable.

winters.
Red
meat
contains
strong
protein
but
this
at
the
same
time
can
cause
a
build-up
of
mucus
in
your
throat.
Processed
meat
and
meats
containing
high
fat
should
be
avoided.
However,
lean
proteins
found
in
fish
and
meat
are
safer.
Meanwhile, also take a look at a few of the best foods that you can consume during winter.
1. Ginger:
Ginger contains an important compound called gingerol which is known for its antioxidant properties. In addition to this ginger is also known for its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It helps in providing relief from any kind of inflammation and pain. Also it helps in keeping any kind of infections at bay.
All that you need to do is take a piece of ginger, peep it, and then boil it in water. Steep for about 5 minutes. Strain it and drink it 2-3 times a day for best results.
2. Turmeric:
Turmeric is not just a spice but it is known for its innumerable health benefits. Due to these benefits, turmeric is used in ayurveda to treat a number of diseases. Turmeric is known for its anti-inflammatory properties.Turmeric can be added in your regular food and consumed.
3. Nuts:
Nuts are rich in omega-3 fats or what is commonly known as the good fats. It also contains an important amino acid that helps in healing wounds quickly and also help in boosting the immune system.
4. Tulsi ( Basil):
Tulsi or commonly known as the holy basil is known for its anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties. It helps in strengthening the immune system and also fight several infections. Just take few tulsi leaves, wash it properly and then chew them. It helps.
5.Honey:
Honey is yet another natural ingredient that helps one during winter. Adding a teaspoon of honey in a cup of warm water and consuming it can help you in providing a soothing effect if you are suffering from sore throat. Consuming honey with warm water also helps to bring out the accumulated phlegm.
