If you're constantly waking up in the middle of the night, then you're not getting the required seven to eight hours of sleep.
This condition is mildly termed as middle insomnia. This is a condition where we move towards the lighter stages of sleep and later end up waking up in the middle of the night.
Many people are likely to experience fragmented sleep in the morning. When you wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake for more than 30 minutes per night for more than three days a week, then this could signal a serious problem.
People with insomnia not only have trouble in falling asleep, but also tend to have more awakening episodes in the night.

1. You Have Undiagnosed Sleep Apnoea:
Sleep apnoea is a condition in which your breathing actually stops and starts throughout the night, causing you to wake up at night. The reasons for this can be due to enlarged tonsils or obesity.
2. Indigestion:
Indigestion can wake you in the middle of the night. Especially if you ate a large meal close to bed-time or if you had a large red wine. You need to stop eating close to bed-time or opt for a lighter meal.
3. Stress:
Stress is something that can mainly kill your sleep. If you notice that you're stressed lately, try doing exercises to relax yourself before hitting the bed. This is one of the reasons for waking up at night.
4. Light:
Some people can never get good sleep or can wake up if the lights are on. Make sure the lightings in your room are adjusted to suit your sleep requirements.
5. Noise:
Noises from both outside and inside the bedroom can be the culprit here. If you live in a city, you need to get tolerant to the noises that are inevitable.
6. Temperature:
Your temperature slows down while you sleep, as your body cools down and it goes into a recovery mode. Sleeping in a room that is too cold or too warm will prevent you from getting a good quality sleep.
7. The Person Next To You:
Your partner snoring, or getting up many times and switching on the lights to head to the washroom or placing his/her hands on you while you're in deep sleep can affect your sleep as well. Then, it's time to sleep alone, if you have an irritating partner. After all, sleep is more important, right?
8. You Drink Too Much Water Before Hitting The Bed:
Night-time urination is the main reason for waking up at night. Make sure to drink water before 30 minutes of hitting the bed and not anytime after that.
9. You Are Using Phone On The Bed:
Exposing your eyes to the light from the phone can make your body from making melatonin, the sleep hormone. Holding smartphones, electronic devices close to the face can give you potent sleep disorders. This is one of the reasons for waking up at night.
10. You Drink Before Bed:
Your cocktail can surely make you feel sleepy. But this can disrupt your sleep as well, once the hangover is gone. Hence, you might end up in waking up at the middle of the night.
