Your Earphones Are Making You Deaf Slowly

I am a Metal Head - obviously not literally, that would be one weird thing; but in simple words, I love listening to heavy metal music.

And like most of my metal-brethren would vouch, nothing gives you your 'Nirvana' than listening to Led Zeppelin or Lamb of God in the dead of night when the whole world is asleep.

The feel gets elevated to another level, when you shove your earphones deep into your ears and cut-off from the rest of the world. Heavenly feeling, ain't it?

Nothing can beat this feel until you are hit by reality.

Last year I had to rush to the ENT who diagnosed me on the threshold of hearing impairment, or 'anacusis', as it's scientifically called.

I was lucky to get out of this mess quicker; however, not many of you realize that the habit of listening loud music through your earphones pushed deep into your ears can actually make you potentially deaf.

But guys, let's face this hard reality. Earphones can actually make you deaf slowly!

So, here we are some possible risks that your earphones pose to you. Why don't you have a look at them and spread the word:

Avoid Loud Noise

We all know that humans have a hearing limit. Sounds more than 85 decibels can cause damage to the hair cells in the inner ear, leading to permanent deafness. The amount of time you spend listening to sounds of more than 85-90 decibels also amplifies the damage in your ear.

Take A Break Of 15 Minutes

Do not listen to extreme loud music for more than 30 minutes. Take a break of at least 15 minutes in between. Specially, people into jobs like sound editing, DJing or those working at a construction site, etc, are the frequent preys to hearing loss, they should be more attentive and take rest.

Do Not Use Tiny Earphones

Tiny earphones enter your ear canal directly, thus blocking the air passage in your ears. This can lead to further bacterial growth, ear infection and accumulation of ear wax, resulting in a hearing disorder.

Invitation To Other Disorders As Well

Constant use of earphones not only builds up your chances of hearing loss but other disorders as well. Tinnitus is a most common hearing disorder. It is a condition in which the patient feels a constant noise like ringing or buzzing sensation in the ears. Severe pain leading to a severe headache is also a result of hearing loud music.

Side Effects On The Brain And Heart

Invitation To Other Disorders As Well

The electromagnetic waves produced by the headphones and earphones can cause a collateral damage to your brain and heart. Not only this, the loud music amplifies the pressure on the brain adding to the adverse effect.

Can Cause Ear Infection

Can Cause Ear Infection

Sharing earphones with someone else can cause ear infection. You never know whether the person you are sharing your earphones with is suffering from any kind of an ear infection or not. So, it's best to avoid sharing those earphones.
