It might cause irritation in the eyes and your eyes may turn red if you sleep without removing your contact lenses. It could also pain your eyes and may cause sensitivity.

The risk of corneal ulcers would greatly increase if you sleep with lenses. This is because the lens may scratch the surface of your eyes when you sleep with lenses.
Oxygen
Contact lenses may deprive oxygen supply to your eyes when you sleep without removing them. Like any other organ, even your eyes need sufficient oxygen to function well.
Fit
Eyes get irritated if you sleep with contacts. When your eyes get irritated, they may cause tiny bumps on the surface. The lenses may not fit well due to that.
Blindness
In rare cases, sleeping with contact lenses may also cause blindness. This is one dangerous reason why you must remember to remove your lenses before falling asleep.
Inflammation
If you have the habit of sleeping with contact lenses everyday, it could cause inflammation inside the eyes. If neo-vascularisation occurs inside cornea, wearing lenses again would be impossible.
Infection
Sleeping with contact lenses may also cause infections. When the surface of the lenses cause microscopic wounds on the eyes during sleep, bacteria may worsen the infection further. In the long run, such situations could lead to eye issues.
