1. Sukhasana

How It's Done:

  • Sit with your legs crossed. 
  • Keep your chest and back straight. 
  • Place your right hand on your chest.
  • Then, place your left hand on your stomach. 
  • Take a deep breath, hold it in for a few seconds and exhale slowly. 
  • Repeat the process for 5-10 minutes every day.

2. Setu Bandha Sarvangasana

This yoga asana, also known as the 'bridge' posture, helps in expanding and relaxing the lung cavities, thereby reducing breathing troubles. It also promotes a healthy blood flow to the lungs and respiratory tracts.

How It's Done:

  • Lie on the mat with your back flat and limbs stretched out. 
  • Place your arms parallel to your body. 
  • Bend your knees upwards, making sure that your feet are directly below your knees. 
  • Keep your feet and shoulders pressed to the ground.
  • Lift your hips upwards towards the ceiling. 
  • Hold that position for a few seconds and bring your hips down. 
  • Repeat at least 20 times in a day.

3. Mathsyasana

This yoga pose is also known as the 'supportive fish' pose. It is known to provide a great relief from asthma, as it opens up your chest cavities and promotes better breathing.

How It's Done:

  • Sit down with your legs crossed. 
  • Keeping your legs crossed, lie down on the mat. 
  • Lift your chin up to face the ceiling.
  • Place your palms below your buttocks (optional). 
  • Then, lift your chest and waist, so that they are not touching the ground. 
  • Your spine must be in an arch shape, while holding the position. 
  • Stay in that position for a few seconds. 
  • Gently lower your spine to the ground. 
  • Repeat at least 20 times in a day.
