Diseases Caused By Mosquitoes
There are several types of diseases that are spread by mosquitoes. Among these the major ones are malaria, chikungunya virus and dengue fever.
Mosquitoes are able to transfer certain specific diseases in accordance with the particular climate and habitat. These include malaria, chikungunya virus, dengue fever, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, etc.
Malaria is a disease that is caused by a parasite of the genus Plasmodium, transmitted by the Anopheles mosquito. Once the infected mosquito bites, it ends up transferring the parasites which are then instrumental in affecting the liver of the person and destroying healthy red blood cells.
The symptoms of malaria are high fever, a cold sensation, shivering, tiredness, vomiting and nausea. To find out if a patient is suffering from malaria or not, a blood test needs to be done. If found positive, it needs to be treated immediately or it can prove to be fatal.
Dengue fever is a viral illness caused by Flavivirus transmitted through mosquitoes. The condition follows an endemic erratic transmission pattern and gives rise to outbreaks. Its signs are severe headaches, high fever, fatigue, pain in the joints and muscles, pain in the eyes, skin rashes, nausea and vomiting, bleeding gums and nose, etc.
The condition lasts for a week, the restoration period is long and is characterized by a resilient asthenia. A blood test is done to check if a person is suffering from dengue or not.
Chikungunya is a virus that is spread when a female Aedes mosquito carrying the virus bites a human being and infects him. When an individual is infected with the chikungunya virus, he shows signs of high fever, headaches, rashes, back pain, joint pain, muscle pain, etc. One can find out whether one is suffering from the virus or not by undergoing a blood test.
These diseases transmitted through mosquitoes can prove to be fatal if they are not taken care of on time. Hence, if you come across any of the above-mentioned symptoms, make sure to rush to a doctor immediately.
