But often getting antibiotics for even the slightest fever can be harmful than good.

Onion's antibacterial and antiseptic properties help in destroying the bacteria that cause cold and fever. It's perfectly safe to give it to the children too.
You can make onion juice and give it to your kid throughout in the day. Onion juice can be prepared by grinding the onion and letting the baby drink its juice in little quantities. It is one of the safest and healthiest remedies to treat cold and fever in your infant.
Turmeric is described as the herb in Ayurveda that has a cure for every type of ailment in the world. It can be used to treat a pesky cough, cold and fever in your kids. Its antibacterial properties will ward off any bacteria that cause illness. Turmeric is also useful in strengthening your child's immune system.
You can add a pinch of turmeric to any juice, warm milk or even warm water and give your child twice every day for desired results.

Garlic is truly an amazing Ayurvedic herb that is packed with antibacterial and antiviral properties. It helps fight bacteria that cause fever and cold.
Cut a few garlic cloves, mix it in boiling water. When this cools down, you can give this juice to your child in a small quantity throughout the day.
Another way is to make a paste using garlic and coconut oil. You can apply it on to your child's foot and cover it with a bandage. Leaving it overnight will help in reducing fever.
Tulsi, aka Holy Basil, has been used since times immemorial for its antibacterial, antibiotic and germicidal properties. It can be given to children to treat common cold, cough and fever.
If your child is suffering from fever, applying tulsi on the chest and forehead will help in relieving the situation.
If your child is older than 6 months of age, you can give him/her a teaspoon of tulsi mixed with ½ a teaspoon of honey.
Lemon has antibacterial properties that can help if your child is suffering from fever. Vitamin C present in it helps in strengthening your immune system.
Add ½ a tablespoon of lemon juice to 1 cup of warm water. Let it boil. Soak a towel in it. Wring it properly and put it on your child's feet. It will help in reducing your child's fever.
