Soft Drinks Can Harm Kidneys?
Diet sodas and drinks can control the calories and cholesterol in the body but drinking more than one glass of soda or soft drink a day can harm the kidneys. People suffering from kidney diseases or poor functioning are advised not to have dark coloured sodas or drinks.
Cola drinks leads to formation of stones in the kidney which can gradually damage the kidneys. The acid and radical mineral imbalances in dark coloured sodas affect the kidneys. The phosphoric acids in the drinks absorbs calcium from bones and is eliminated through the passage of urine. This slowly forms stones in the kidney.
By having soft drinks or soda, the water content in the body reduces and can cause dehydration. The caffeine and sugar contents in soda or soft drinks acts as dehydrating diuretics. Dehydration harms the kidneys.
Soft drinks also increase the body weight and can even lead to obesity. The fructose in soft drinks increases the blood pressure therefore causing heart diseases. Sugar and acids in sodas or soft drinks harm the tooth enamel.
According to researchers, the sweeteners in soft drinks damage the kidneys and gradually lead to chronic kidney diseases. Soft drinks can also affect the liver and can cause liver cirrhosis.
So, before buying any soft drink or soda, check the phosphorus content as this acid takes away calcium from the bones thus leading to bone loss. Avoid having soft drinks and soda on a regular basis and if you have, don't take more than one serving/glass. Rather have healthy drinks such as fruit juices which are good for the body. Water is the best drink which ensures healthy kidneys functioning.
