7 Best Tips To Fight Seasonal Allergies
Check out some of the best ways to tackle seasonal allergies, in this article.
The season of a particular geographical location is always subjected to change; this is the rule of the universe.
In tropical countries like India, we experience 4 seasons; however, in a few other countries, there could just be 2 or 3 seasons.
This is because of the rotations of the earth and a few other geographical factors which contribute to periodical climate change.
Now, in India, we normally experience summers, monsoons, autumn and winter.
Every season brings with it various bounties, as well as a few negative things!
For example, while summer is the time to enjoy delicious tropical fruits like mangoes and watermelon, the extreme heat can also make people feel stuffy and heat strokes are commonly seen.
During the monsoons, or the rainy seasons, there is a higher level of moisture in the air and although monsoons are beautiful, they bring about a number of air and waterborne viral diseases.
So, even with the changing seasons, there are always pros and cons, especially when it comes to health.
Now, apart from the viral diseases and heat/cold-related diseases that people experience with the change of seasons, some of them could also experience seasonal allergies.
Allergy can be described as a condition in which a person's immune system respond's negatively to a foreign substance which enters the body, thus giving rise to a number of undesirable symptoms.
Different people can be allergic to different substances, including food, animal fur, pollen, certain clothing material, etc.
Many people experience allergic reactions even with the changing seasons.
Seasonal allergies are caused by certain factors like humidity, pollen, etc., present in the air during a particular season.
Some of the symptoms of seasonal allergies are fever, watery eyes and nose, cold, wheezing, headache, fatigue, etc.
So, here are a few best tips to help fight seasonal allergies.
Tip #1 Keep Your Windows & Doors Shut
If you get seasonal allergies during spring, when there is pollen in the air, ensure that you keep your windows and doors shut as much as possible and commute with a mask on.
Tip #2 Wash Your Hands Properly
Ensure that you wash your hands and body well, each time you step into the house, as certain allergens from outside may be present on your body.
Tip #3 Avoid Going Out Too Often
During the seasons that you are more prone to allergies, limit your time outside of your home, as much as possible.
Tip #4 Don’t Skip Medication
Do not skip out on taking the allergy medications prescribed by your doctor. Ideally, the medications must be started when the season starts.
Tip #5 Take Up Herbal & Natural Remedies
Herbal medications and natural remedies have also known to be effective with seasonal allergies, so after speaking to your doctor, give them a try.
Tip #6 Consume Probiotics
Many studies have said that consuming probiotics like yoghurt or probiotic supplements can also help strengthen your immune system to fight seasonal allergies.
Tip #7 Vitamin C-rich Foods
Add more vitamin C-rich foods to your diet or consider taking vitamin C supplements, as vitamin C can also strengthen your immune system to help fight against allergens.
