Symptoms Of Uterus Infection
Uterus infection is also known as endometritis and it is the inflammation or irritation in the lining of the uterus, which is scientifically called endometrium.
Endometritis is caused by an infection in the endometrium or the uterus. It can be caused by various sexually transmitted diseases like chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc., or various vaginal infections and tuberculosis.
It is most likely to be seen in women who have just given birth or have had a miscarriage. The risk of getting endometritis is more after getting a pelvic procedure done.
You are also at a risk if you have a caesarean delivery instead of a normal one.
Here are a few symptoms of endometritis:
#1 Abdominal Swelling
This is the first symptom of a uterus infection. The abdomen will swell up, resulting in pain and lot of discomfort. When there is no particular underlying reason to the pain, you should get yourself checked.
#2 Abnormal Vaginal Bleeding
Vaginal bleeding is a big red sign that something is wrong with your uterus. During periods, it is normal for the uterus wall to rupture and bleed; but on other dry days, if your vagina shows signs of bleeding, it might be a sign of an uterus infection.

#3 Abnormal Vaginal Discharge
Abnormal, yellowish vaginal discharge with a pungent odour is always an indicator of an underlying infection. You can always get a check-up done to know if it is a normal yeast infection or an underlying serious one.
#4 Constipation
If you are maintaining a healthy diet and still getting constipated, it means that your system inside is not working efficiently to digest the food. This can be a sign of a uterus infection.
#5 A High Temperature
A high temperature without any particular reason is also a warning sign that your body often gives. The fever occurs because our body tries to fight with the underlying infectious bacteria.

#6 General Feeling Of Sickness
You generally tend to feel tired and weak all the time. You don't enjoy fun activities anymore because of the discomfort that has come about due to the infection. Your body slowly feels weak, as there is a constant fight within, between the good and bad bacteria.
#7 Discomfort While Having Bowel Movement
Bowel movement is the passage of stool through the anus. The bowel movements become extremely uncomfortable and painful as the infection causes growth of the uterus cells from within.
#8 Endometritis With Childbirth
Women who have just given birth tend to be diagnosed with the infection after 24 hours. Pain and fever are the common symptoms of it. Pain while passing urine is also a very common symptom. This is further accompanied by foul bloodily discharge from the vagina.
#9 Septic Shock
Uterus infection and septic shock go hand in hand. A uterine infection, if left untreated, can lead to various complications and affect various other organs, which can turn out to be fatal. Septic shocks can also indicate an underlying uterine infection. The symptoms include paleness, lightheadedness and confusion.
#10 Painful Intercourse
Women suffering from uterine infection tend to report painful sexual intercourse. Some women don't seek help, as they think this is an embarrassing topic to talk about. It is always advised to seek medical help when required.
It is very important to have an early diagnosis, so that the infection stops from spreading. Women should not be shy about their reproductive health, as this might start affecting other organs slowly. Endometritis is usually treated with antibiotics.
A series of test is also run along with it to determine if a person has any sexually transmitted diseases. Often, the partner is also checked, so that it is safe to continue sexual intercourse. It is important to finish all the medications by the doctor and take it on time to cure it properly.
