Some Unknown Causes Of Eye Bags

Eye bags, a problem which has gained popularity between the age group of 25-30, is growing up to be a major problem, specially among working professionals. The most common cause of eye bags is tiredness, alcohol and aging. Apart from these there are also more serious causes of eye bags, which needs immediate attention, to prevent maximum harm.

Causes of Eye Bags

1.Kidney Disorder – According to a recent research by Dr. Lawrence E. Gibson, Mayo Clinic, excessive increase in eye bags and puffiness, accompanied by swelling in other parts of the body, can be a symptom of Kidney and Thyroid disorder. Puffy eyes is one of the first symptoms of Kidney disorder.

2.Thyroid Disorder – One of the major symptom of Thyroid is bloating of tissues. Thus Thyroid is one of the causes of puffy eyes. This is the earliest symptom which is often ignored. Other symptoms of Thyroid like muscle cramps, weight gain, weakness etc, comes along only in the later stages. Thyroid is more common among women than in men.

3.Sodium Intake – Excessive consumption of sodium, is also one of the causes of eye bags. Several studies have proved that excessive sodium intake increases the water content in the body. This water often leads to puffy eyes. Excessive concentration of sodium can be flushed out from the body with intake of enough water.

4.Hormone Changes – Hormone level fluctuation increases the fluid retention in the body and specially under the skin around the eyes. Puffy eyes due to hormonal changes mostly happen during pregnancy and to aging women.

These are the four medical causes of eye bags. Puffy eyes mostly is the early symptom of serious illness, thus, doctors advice should be taken on the onset of puffy eyes. Eye bags can also be cured with home remedies.
