Konkani Batata Song Recipe (Without Onions)
Konkani recipes are usually characterised by two things; coconut and seafood. Coconut is one of the most freely available ingredients on the coasts. That is why, Konkani recipes use fresh coconut and coconut milk in them.
The best thing about Konkani recipes is that they are not bland. Unlike the coastal recipes from the rest of the world that are known for being mild and having a sweet tinge to them, the recipes from the Indian coast are very spicy. They blend the taste of fresh spices and the juicy coconut flavour.
Today we have a special vegetarian Konkani recipe, which is sure to take you by a surprise. Batata song is a delicious recipe made with potatoes and fresh coconut. There are many variations of this recipe. Some cook it with onions while others without it.
Here is a version of the batata song recipe without onions, which is perfect for the vegans as well. People who fast during Navratri and other festivals may also prepare it by substituting ghee with oil and rock salt in place of normal salt.
