Easy Moong Dal & Potato Recipe

Moong dal is a favourite among many. This type of dal is also rich in many vitamins and other nutrients which is good for health.

Boldsky shares with you a simple and easy dal recipe you can prepare in about 20 minutes. This delectable dal curry is cooked along with potato which is another highly nutritious veggie.

The spices which is added to this treat is another thing to look forward too while enjoying your afternoon meal. On the other hand, moong dal is best suited with plain white rice.

Moong Dal & Potato Recipe | Moong Dal Recipe For Plain White Rice | Moong Dal Curry Recipe

Serves: 3
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 18 minutes

You Will Need

  • Green Moong dal - 1 cup (boiled)
  • Potatoes - 2 (boiled)
  • Tomatoes - 3 (chopped)
  • Green chillies - 5 (sliced)
  • Ginger - 1 piece (finely grated)
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Coriander leaves - few
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1 cup

For Seasoning

  • Mustard seeds - 1tsp
  • Jeera Seeds - 1tsp
  • Methi seeds - 1/2tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2tsp
  • Oil / Ghee - 1/2tsp

Procedure

  1. In a pan, heat a little oil. Wait for the oil to turn hot and then add in the ingredients mentioned under seasoning. Fry the ingredients well for 2 to 3 minutes.
  2. Now add to the pan the chopped tomatoes, sliced green chillies, grated ginger, curry leaves, salt, coriander leaves and fry on a medium heat till you see the oil separating on the sides of the pan.
  3. Now to the pan add in the boiled potatoes, cooked moong dal and allow it to cook for another 10 minutes or so.
  4. Add in a little water each time you feel that the water is less in the pan.

Nutrition Tip
Moong dal helps to control blood pressure, it is good for diabetics and also a good source of iron for pregnant women.

Tip
Make sure you do not add too much of water while it is cooking. This moong dal and potato curry should be a little thick.
