Kanchipuram Idli Recipe For Breakfast
Kanchipuram idli is a traditional recipe which hails from the vaishnavite homes in the little town of kanchipuram which is located in the heart of Tamilnadu. This yummy kanchipuram idli which is also widely known as a traditional temple offering, has becomes popular all over the world.

Ingredients
- Urad Dal - ¼ cup
- Rice- ½ cup
- Chana dal- ¼ tbsp
- Curd- 1/8 cup
- Cashew - 100 gms
- Green Chilies- 2 (sliced)
- Coconut- ½ cup (grated)
- Ginger - ¼ tsp
- Pepper Powder - ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Curry leaves - few
- Oil- 2 tbps
- Ghee- 1 tbsp
Procedure
- Wash and soak the urad dal and rice together for at least 4 hours or more.
- Now soak the chana dal separately.
- Grind the urad dal and rice to a coarse paste using enough water to the mixture.
- Allow it to ferment in a warm place for at least 6 to 8 hours.
- Add the curds, cashewnuts, green chillies, coconut, ginger, pepper powder, curry leaves, ghee, salt and the soaked chana dal and mix well.
- Spoon the batter into greased idli moulds and steam for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Repeat with the remaining batter.
Your kanchipuram idli is now ready to eat. Serve these yummy idlis with either tomato chutney or mint chutney.
