Spicy Chicken Manchurian Recipe

Some Chinese recipes are so popular that they have become quintessentially Indian. You can hardly call chilli chicken or chicken manchurian a recipe that is Chinese. These recipes have been so improvised from their Chinese version that they have become Indian now. Chicken in manchurian sauce is a dish that is one of our favourites. We have this both as snacks and with Chinese fried rice.

It is not very hard to try the chicken manchurian recipe at home. This Chinese chicken recipe requires a handful of ingredients. It also takes very little time to try out the chicken manchurian recipe. Today, we will be making chicken manchurian dry. You can add some water and corn flour to this dish and simmer it for a few minutes.

Chicken Manchurian

Serves: 2
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • Chicken (boneless)- ½ kg
  • Corn flour- 1 cup
  • Eggs- 2 (beaten)
  • Green chillies- 6 (chopped)
  • Soy sauce- 3tbsp
  • Tomato sauce- 2tbsp
  • Ginger-garlic paste- 1tsp
  • Garlic- 4 cloves (chopped)
  • Ginger- 1 inch (chopped)
  • Capsicum- 1 (cut into big pieces)
  • Celery- 2 stalks (chopped)
  • Ajinomoto- ½ tsp
  • Oil- 1 cup
  • Salt- as per taste

Procedure

  1. Take a mixing bowl and add corn flour, eggs, 2 chopped green chillies, salt and ginger garlic paste to it.
  2. Add ½ a cup of warm water and beat it to mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a deep bottomed pan. When it steams, dip the chicken pieces in the batter and add them to the oil.
  4. Deep fry the chicken piece for 3-4 minutes and strain them on a tissue paper.
  5. Take 2tbsp of oil in a pan and when it gets warm, add ginger and garlic to it.
  6. Then add the green chillies to the pan and mix it up. Cook for 2 minutes on a low flame.
  7. Add soy sauce, tomato ketchup and ajinomoto to the pan. Cook for a minute.
  8. Add celery leaves the pan and mix it up. Add ½ a cup of water and add the fried chicken pieces to the pan.
  9. Simmer for 3-4 minutes on a low flame. You can add some cornflour if the gravy seems to be runny.

You can have chicken manchurian as a snack or team it up with noodles.
