Athlete’s Foot

The most common gym-based skin disorder is called athlete's foot that happens from a fungus called tinea. By the name, one may think it only happens on the feet, but it can happen on your legs or hands as well. The skin becomes itchy, stingy, peeled and discoloured when affected with athlete's foot.


  • To treat athlete's foot, first wear open sandals over tied sports shoes.
  • A mild soap of corn startch and water also works on athelete's foot.


Very contagious in nature, herpes makes the skin turn very itchy and on doing so, it becomes red.

When infected with herpes, you might also get high on body temperature with some pain. Common herpes-affected areas on the body are arms, face and neck. You can get herpes from your gym mate as well.


Ice pack, lemon balm, tea bags or aloe vera gel are the best ways of treating herpes at home.


Fungal Infections

Skin fungal infections happen from the gym, especially for those who become lethargic to the immediate gym bath. As you cancel a gym bath session, the sweat can remain stuck to the body and thus the scope of a fungal infection gets gross. Fungal infection can happen anywhere on the body, usually beginning with skin peeling or redness.


Ensure you start taking an everyday bath by adding sea salt to your bath plans, which also helps to get relief from fungal infections on the skin.



Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the virus that causes warts and is a common skin disorder which you could catch while at the gym. Warts are especially common on the hands. It's an extra skin outgrowth that is usually numb. Do not get scared if your dermatologist plans a biopsy to treat your wart, as that is the most common method.


Hot water soak, apple cider vinegar or banana peel can treat skin warts.


Pseudomonas aeruginosa Infection

From red in the novice stage, pseudomonas aeruginosa infection becomes dark black in colour. The worst beat is, these develop a filling that bursts out without any prior notice and the discharge is smelly.

This skin problem develops at the gym and goes really gross if not treated in the right way.


Try tea tree oil and coconut oil application on the affected area to get relief from the Pseudomonas aeruginosa skin problem.



Men and women both have complained of getting impetigo from the gym. It is a bacterial skin infection caused by two bacteria namely Streptococcus and Staphylococcos. It starts with blisters being developed that later shed a discharge.
