black heads

What are blackheads? They are tiny black bumps that appear on the nose and occur when the pores get clogged with dirt, bacteria and dead skin cells.

This wax plug eventually gets pushed to the surface, which then comes in contact with the oxygen in air, starts oxidizing and turns black in colour.

How does this DIY blackheads clearing trick work? The main ingredient in this mask is toothpaste. And toothpaste contains mint, an active ingredient with anti-inflammatory properties that open pores and kill bacteria.

However, another point to take into consideration is that toothpaste contains other harsh ingredients that can dry out the skin and react adversely with sensitive skin. So, use it sparingly and always patch test it first.

Now, the ingredient that needs to be included with the toothpaste is salt. Mineral in salt sloughs off the dead skin layer, revealing clear skin underneath.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to remove blackheads naturally. Take a look.

Step 1:

tooth paste

Take a bowl, squeeze out 1 teaspoon of your regular toothpaste, preferably the plain white one.

Step 2:

Add a teaspoon of refined salt, and mix both the ingredients well, until they blend.

Step 3:

Take steam to open the pores and loosen dirt. Add a few drops of lavender oil and tea tree oil to the steam water for added nourishment.

Step 4:

Apply a thin coat of the paste onto your nose. Let it sit for 5 minutes. Later, moisten the area with a few drops of water and scrub in a circular motion very gently. Do this for 2 minutes.

Step 5:

Later, rub the area with ice cubes to soothe the skin and close pores. Your nose may appear red, but it will usually fade with time.

Step 6:

If you have extremely dry skin, massage the area with a nourishing moisturiser. You could use this trick to remove blackheads not more than once a week.
