Homemade Remedies To Banish Razor Burns

Generally, shaving is considered as an affordable and quick way to remove unwanted hair; however, it can have a major drawback, which in other words is known as a razor burn.

A razor burn is defined as a skin irritation that occurs soon after an area has been shaved. It causes a burning sensation with the appearance of red rashes. The area can turn itchy and swollen.

It is commonly associated with men who shave their faces frequently. Women can also have razor burns after shaving their legs and armpits.

Razor burns are generally caused by a dull blade, using a hard soap, shaving dry, shaving on an unconditioned skin or just due to sensitive skin.

Apple Cider Vinegar

It has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce the inflammation and itching, which is caused by razor bumps. It helps to fight the bacteria that cause an infection as well.

Note: For sensitive skin, you must dilute the solution with an equal amount of water.


Cold Compress

It helps to soften the skin and cools down the burning sensation caused by razor bumps. Place a few ice cubes in a thin piece of cloth and dab on the clean shaved area.



All you need to do is dissolve two tablets of aspirin in about one tablespoon of lukewarm water. Rub the paste on the area that is affected by razor bumps. Do this twice in a day to help get rid of the razor bumps faster.



It has antibacterial properties and is used to cure many other skin problems such as acne and dry skin. It helps to reduce the redness and swelling caused by razor bumps.


Black Tea Bags

Dip a tea bag in some hot water for a few minutes. Remove the tea bag from the water and allow it to cool. Rub the cool tea bag on the razor bumps for a few minutes for a soothing relief.



Oatmeal helps to lessen the irritation caused by razor bumps due to its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Apply the mixture on the affected area and let it dry for about half an hour. Wash it with cold water.


Lemon Juice

Dip a cotton ball into some lemon juice and gently apply it on the razor bumps. Once you have covered all the bumps, allow it to dry and wash your skin with some lukewarm water.
