Is Your Skin Safe With Tattoo?
The tattoo trend is in and has been a low and high tide in the fashion industry. Though India is soon catching up with the trend, specially the Bollywood stars, US is reeling under tattoo addiction. Tattoo is a body art which is done by inserting ink in the skin cells with the help of a needle. It is permanent and can be removed only with laser surgery. The body art artists do a great job, with several types and categories of designs. Some of the famous personalities flaunting the best tattoos are Angelina Jolie and David Beckham. But how safe is tattooing or rather tattoo addiction.
Dermatologists have often sited the danger of tattoo skin reactions. Lets look at some of the tattoo skin reactions -
1.Each tattoo pigment for different colours contain different chemicals which includes allergic contact dermatitis and photoallergic dermatitis. This leads to inflammed skin rashes, scales, skin peeling. It makes the skin sensitive to exposure to sunlight and brightness. Sensitive to sunlight means that everytime it tatoo is exposed to sun, there are skin allergic reactions like redness, swelling etc.
2.If you already suffer from pimples, acne, freckles, eczema etc the tottoo skin reactions may just flair up the skin condition. The chemicals in the tattoo ink, reacts with the skin infection and an grow up to be a big skin problem.
3.There is something called the Lichenoid reaction. These are small skin eruptions which are usually noticed on the red area of the tattoo. This is one of the tattoo skin reactions for the red pigmentation.
4.Just after the tattoo is made, a scar is normal but some times the scars gorws beyong being healed. This happens due to the tattoo skin reactions to the chemicals. It is also called the keloid formation.
5.Tattoo addiction also leads to skin sensitivity. The skin becomes sensitive to infections as the immunity is hampered with costant pricking. Too many foreign elements are introduced together, to which the skin finds difficult to handle.
Tattoo skin reactions are normal but it grows up to be a problem when it leads to tattoo addiction.
