Ways To Tackle Dandruff This Winter
Winter is all ready to set in for this year. Shouldn't you too gear up for the season? The answer should definitely be a "Yes" because the working of the human body changes according to the environment though most of it is not known. The condition of the mane is something that should be given first priority to for the winter.
Build-up on the scalp increases due to less moisture in the air around, leading to flaky and itchy skin. There are certain best ways to tackle dandruff this winter. In extreme cases, it might seem like a snowfall on the shoulders too. But with the help of hair care tips during winter, the problem certainly can get solved.
Here are some best ways to tackle dandruff and keep it at bay this winter. Oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, or any other oil that suits you can be used. Applying neem, curd, garlic, etc., is relatively considered an ideal way to tackle dandruff this winter.

Hot Oil Massage
This is the best trick that works for anyone with the problem of flaky scalp. One thing to be noted here is that the oil must be lukewarm. Massage the oil into your scalp with the tip of your fingers without giving much pressure.
Re-heat the oil if it cools down. Wrap your hair with a towel and leave it on for a while or overnight if possible. Wash off using a mild shampoo and conditioner. This can be done twice or thrice a week.
Tea Tree Oil
The best way to tackle dandruff during winter, tea tree oil needs a special mention because it is highly effective.
However, this must not be used on its own and must be mixed with a carrier oil like coconut oil in a 1:2 proportion. Massage the scalp with this mix before bedtime and wash off with a mild cleanser in the morning.
Curd And Lemon
The acidic nature of lemon balances the pH level of the scalp and helps in getting rid of dandruff. Curd gives a smooth texture to the hair and is a perfect hair care tip to follow during winter.
This acts as a great combo for maintaining a healthy scalp and hair. Simply mix 5 teaspoons of lemon juice in ½ a cup of curd. Apply and rinse after 20 minutes. Continue in regular intervals of 2-4 days.
Neem
A hair mask with neem works wonders for the dandruff issue. Grind some leaves and add a tablespoon of honey to it. Apply the thick paste all over the scalp and let it stay for 20 minutes.
Wash it off with normal water later on. An easier way is to rinse your hair with neem-infused water after using a shampoo.
Vinegar
Itchy scalp can be treated with a dash of vinegar very effectively. Either white vinegar or apple cider vinegar can be used for this purpose. Just mix equal quantities of vinegar and water, and drench your mane with it. Wash away as usual after half an hour.
Aloe Vera
This plant with extensive medicinal properties gives a soothing effect to the head. Take some of the raw gel from the aloe leaf and rub it on the scalp.
Leave it on for some time and rinse it with a medicated shampoo. This is the best way to tackle dandruff during winter and it helps get rid of inflammation too.
Garlic
You might want to steer clear of garlic for the pungent smell it emanates; but did you know that it is antifungal and can treat dandruff?
Two or three cloves of garlic would do for this. Pound them and mix in a teaspoon of honey to subdue the smell. Rub it on the scalp and wash off later on. Repeat occasionally for best results.
Thyme
Thyme fights infections in a great way. Boil this mixture - 4 tablespoons of dried thyme leaves and 2 cups of water. You must boil it until the water gets halved.
Use the concoction on the damp scalp. You can either choose to leave it on or rinse it with just plain water.
