By Kumutha

There is a village in China called Huangluo with the Guinness book of world records for being the village having the "world's longest average hair length". Average length of the hair for women here is six feet, with first gray hair appearing only after 80 years!! WOW!!

When asked about the secret behind their lustrous long hair, these women credited it to one simple ingredient that they have been using for generations - fermented rice water and a DIY hair growth mask they prepare out of this.

That's right, the milky coloured liquid from boiling rice can transform your mane, like never before. Rice water is rich in vitamins E, B, minerals, antioxidants; and when fermented, it leaves traces of a compound called 'Pitera'.

Vitamin E cleanses the scalp of dirt residue and nourishes dry ends and vitamin B complex stimulates hair growth. Minerals, on the other hand, add shine, silkiness and flexibility to the hair.

And antioxidants strengthen the roots, repair the damaged hair follicles and bolster production of new hair cells. Plus, rice water also contains saponins that work as a natural cleanser.

Using rice water as a herbal mask to boost hair growth is not as simple as collecting the cloudy end residue and using it to rinse hair.
