What's the survival rate of your hair shafts between chemically chocked hair care products, scorching heat of the styling tools and allergens of the surroundings, let us guess, really low, isn't it?
If your hair has been shedding excessively, is intensely dry and frizz-prone, now you know the reason why!
We scoured through the Internet, trying to find that one ingredient that will spell life back into your dull-dead-dud hair and all our research repeatedly kept pointing towards one ingredient - olive oil. Here is why.
Olive oil is packed with vitamin E, which slows down both oil absorption and diffusion rate of your hair fibre. This prevents your hair strands from swelling up and shrinking repeatedly, which in turn reduces breakage.
Also, olive oil works like a slick protective film on your hair fibre, which reduces friction, repairs split ends and boosts shine.
Rich omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants present in olive oil remove the flaky dead skin cells on your scalp, restore the moisture balance and stimulate blood flow, which in turn promotes great hair growth.
And packed with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, olive oil kills the infection-causing bacteria and acts as a protective barrier against the free radicals.
Now that it is clear how olive oil is the one ingredient your hair needs to bounce back to life, here is a DIY olive oil treatment that will work like a charm.
Another ingredient included in this pack is avocado, which (also being loaded with saturated fats and vitamin E) will double up this treatment's effectiveness.
- 1 avocado
- ½ a cup of pure olive oil
Method Of Preparation & Application
In a bowl, smash the avocado into fine pulp, stir in the olive oil. Whisk until it gets to a smooth consistency.
Wet your hair; using a brush, apply the mask to your hair and scalp. Massage your scalp with the soft cushion of your fingers for a few minutes.
Wrap your head in a hot towel. And let the mask sit for 15 to 20 minutes.
Later, shampoo and condition your scalp as usual. Repeat this method once a week for complete revival of the hair.
