Waxing is a great way to remove hair from your body and bikini wax is one among these methods. Bikini wax is a common method that helps to remove hair from bikini area. Waxing your bikini line at home can be a great idea because you have to do it every three to four weeks or even after that. However, bikini line waxing can be quite expensive and uncomfortable to get it done in the saloon and hence doing it at home is a safe alternative.
Waxing your bikini area at home is possible, only if you do it carefully and make sure to follow all the guidelines mentioned below.
1. Allow your hair to grow
Before you wax your own bikini line, there are few things you should always keep in mind. Allow your hair to grow at least ¼ of an inch so that you don't feel pain while pulling the hair. Also growing hair atleast ¼ inch will allow the process to go smooth and painless. You also keep in mind or maintain a record of your last waxing session so that you know when is the right time for waxing. Hair length depends from person to person and hence you are the correct person to see if your hair has grown well and it can be pulled off easily.
Before you wax your own bikini line, it is very important to exfoliate your skin and cleanse the area. Exfoliating your skin can help to get rid of the dead skin cells and dust accumulated on the skin. Exfoliating skin also treats the clogged pores which increase the risk of breakouts and acne on the skin.
3. The correct way to do it
You should apply your cream or wax in the direction hair grows and then place the strip firmly. Hold on for a second and allow pressure so that the hair sticks well to the strip, thus accelerating removal of hair without pain. Now pull off the strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Repeat if needed.
4. Test the wax
No matter if it is a bikini wax or a normal hand wax, waxing at home always should proceed with trying and testing on a small area. Take an applicator stick and stir the pot, scrape off excess wax and then apply on your wrist to test-you'll know if it's too hot. You should be very careful while waxing your own bikini line as hot wax can leave you with bumps and burns there.
5. Moisturise well
Once you are done with the bikini, after care is another important element you should consider. You should apply a good moisturiser so that there is no bumps or irritation on your bikini line. If not moisturiser, you can apply frozen aloe vera to calm down the inflamed and irritated skin. Aloe vera gel can also help to treat itchy bikini line and redness if any.
6. The rest of the hair should be tweezed
Most of the time, hair which very small in length cannot be pulled out of the skin and hence you can get rid of them with the help of a tweezer. You can use a tweezer to pull those tiny hair on your bikini line. Plucking your tiny hair is a great way to get rid of them. Another way to deal with tiny hair is threading. Although it is very difficult to do threading on your own bikini line, if you have a friend who can help you with this, it would be great.
7. Wear loose clothes
Once you are done with your waxing, you should wear loose clothes. Wearing skinny jeans or too tight clothes can give you harsh red lines around the bikini area thus giving you scars on the body. Freshly waxed skin when comes in contact with harsh fabrics, it may feel irritated thus leading to several other problems. It is always good to wear pure cotton and loose clothes.
