Lightening stretch marks, reducing cellulite, there are a lot of surprises of Vicks VapoRub!
From clearing congested chest, stuffy nose to easing whopping cough, Vicks has been a saviour for us as long as we can even remember. However, what if we say, it has more to it!
Vicks can lighten your stretch marks, clear out acne, moisturise your skin and keep mosquitoes at bay. You heard us right, Vicks VapoRub has incredible beauty uses too.
Before we get down to decoding the unconventional uses of this odoriferous ointment, there are a few things you need to know!
Vicks contains a combination of eucalyptus oil, cedar leaf oil, camphor and turpentine oil, all of which can heal, repair, moisturise and increase the skin cell turnover.
Now, though incredible number of women seem to have tried Vicks mask with positive results, these are self-concocted remedies with no medical backup.
Before giving these beauty hacks using VapoRub a try, we suggest you patch test it first to eliminate any possibility of side effects.
Now that we have all in the open, here are some quick tips on how to get clear skin with Vicks!
Lighten Stretch Marks
Anti-inflammatory properties of eucalyptus oil present in Vicks can lighten stretch marks anywhere between 60% to 80%. Here is what you need to do. Dab Vicks on stretch marks sparingly. Massage your skin rigorously until you feel your skin become warm. Let it stay for 30 minutes and then wipe it clean.
Clear Pimples
Next time you see a zit popping on your skin, take a pinch of Vicks, add 3 drops of coconut oil. And dab it onto the affected area. Let it work overnight. By morning, it will dry out the pimple right off.
Heal Cracked Heels
Heavy with emollient, Vicks can heal and repair cracked skin. Take a liberal amount of the ointment, massage it onto the heels. Put on a pair of soft socks. By morning, you will notice the skin become visibly soft and smooth.
Hydrate Lips
To moisturise dry and cracked lips, try this moisturising Vicks mask. Mix a pinch of Vicks with 1 vitamin E gel. Mix well and massage it to your lips. If you have open bleeding skin on your lips, avoid this remedy. Slight burning sensation is normal; however, if it is too much, rinse it off immediately!
Treat Toe Nail Fungus
Dab some Vicks onto the affected area, several times a day. In a few days, you will notice that the nails will turn black in shade, which means it is clearing the fungus. Later, trip your nails and grow them out as required.
Reduce Cellulite
We don't guarantee it works, but a lot of people claim to have benefited from this remedy. Mix a small dollop of Vicks with 1 crushed camphor, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and a few drops of rubbing alcohol. Mix it well and massage it onto the affected area. Wrap it up tight with a cling wrap. Let it sit for an hour and then rinse it off with plain water.
