Thirukkural-On Virtue-Avoidance Of Killing-Kural 329

Thirukkural, Kural 329
Kolaivinaiya raakiya maakkal pulaivinaiyar Punmai terivaa rakathu

The men who practise slaughter of animals as a profession Are identified by the discerning, as vile men

Those who practise slaughtering as a profession, according to poet, are in dishonourable trade.

Valluvar has used the word 'maakkal' meaning beasts, in referring to such men. Parimelalagar exempts sacrificial killing from this, which is in keeping with the prevailing trends of thought during his time. We may not do so now.
