Faith In The Master

Faith In The Master
Surrender was the suggestion that Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi gave His disciples as an antidote for worldly maladies as well as for spiritual gains, apart from Self Enquiry. A person who has closely followed the words of Ramana will know that surrender and self enquiry mean the same. Invariably every spiritual aspirant's unfailing equipment on the path is faith in the master.

Once a visitor poured out his woes to Ramana and started weeping, “Swami I have been coming to you many times hoping that something will happen. So far I did not see any transformation in me. I am as what I was, a man with weaknesses, an inveterate sinner"

Ramana replied as He normally would, “There are no milestones on this road. How can you know the direction that you are heading? Instead why don't you follow the first class passenger in the train? He simply tells the guard his destination, locks the door and retires to sleep. All the rest is done by the guard. All that you have to do is to place the trust on your Guru. If you can do this, it is suffice to make you reach your destination. Your business is to shut the door and windows and go to sleep. Your destination will be taken care by the guard!"

Faith takes one to heights that nothing else can. It is a prerequisite for surrender.
