The Potency In The Pictures Of Ramana

Ramana Maharshi Pictures
Ramana Maharshi's pictures are potent with the power of His presence. The innumerable pictures that Bhagavan has posed for stands as a strong support for many, relating to Him through His pictures. Bhagavan reclining, Bhagavan walking, Bhagavan smiling, Bhagavan eating and what not?!

Ramana's pictures are powerful expressions of His presence. The countless experiences of the devotees silently speak of the Master's presence felt through His pictures. A disturbed friend owing to her mother's illness on going to a clinic, found solace in the picture of the Master that she found there. As in the case of another, similar to the aforesaid case, found her strength when she found the Master's photo in the doctor's room who was to treat her aunt for brain tumour. Nonetheless the surgery was successful. On the part of a devotee it is in fact a reassurance of the Master's Grace.

In the words of Bhagavan Himself, “The Guru is both 'external' and 'internal'. From the 'exterior' He gives a push to the mind to turn inward; from the 'interior' He pulls the mind towards the Self and helps in the quieting of the mind. That is Guru-kripa" (Maharshi"s Gospel, p. 33) Hence His pictures, post His Nirvana are infallible tools to realise the external version of the Guru.

While one revels in the glorious form of Bhagavan, what can be said of the magnetic pull of His eyes? His eyes play a major role in His divine Leelas (plays) not only with His devotees who are drowned by its blissful intoxication but also those ignorant souls who do not even know of Him! There are a lot of people from far off lands who have been lured by His luminous eyes in His picture that drew them towards the remote Thiruvannamalai, where His ashram ( Ramanashram) stands. A foreigner who in course of his travel detoured to Thiruvannamalai, cancelling his plans, drawn by the eyes of Ramana on a book in the bookstall of an airport, as told by a devotee in Ramanashram; the very same eyes that silenced the minds of surrounding devotees who sat in His majestic presence in the old hall!
