Sukadeva approached King Janaka for instructions on Brahma Jnana. King Janaka demanded the Gurudakshina in advance saying that once Sukhadeva attains the knowledge of Brahman, he will will not pay the fees.
He said that the one who knows the Brahman will not be able to see the difference between the Guru and the disciple as he realises his natural state beyond all distinctions.
