Why Men Don’t Listen

Men will be men. A popular saying is quite true in many ways. One such thing men are typical with is not listening. It could be due to ego or just in genes. Most men are not good listeners and many others don't accept advices. It is a lost cause to try and change men and get them to listen. As the popular saying goes, you can only take an horse so far as the lake but can't force it to drink water.

Most women find it annoying while others just give up and accept their men for what they are. Women might try and talk topics like sports or politics yet chances of men listening in general are rare. Some hear some pretend to hear but just never listen. Even those men who do listen will give their ears when they have nothing else to do. Try to talk to a good listener when he is engrossed watching Dhoni's bat, don't be surprised to be disappointed.

Most men have lot on their mind and stuff to do at hand. May be it is because they have unfinished work or think of what is next. Some are always thinking about securing their future, while others are desperately waiting for free time to complete unfinished games on their consoles. Whatever be the reason for not listening, this is such underlying character about men that puts most women off.

Importance

May be men don't realise the essence and importance of listening. Be it listening to their parents after certain age or girlfriends and wives later. Not in men's character in general to be a good listener.

Misunderstanding

Some women and even elder and parents think men don't listen and agree with them. Most times though men to listen but that does not constitute to agreeing. This puts most others for not agreeing to even facts.

Emotions

Women in general are emotional. They tend to attach feelings to their talk. Men might not sense or catch the underlying emotions that women tend to portray. This is mostly mistaken by women about men not listening.

Criticism

In general no one likes to be criticised, men and women alike. Though, this is more so true in men. Men don't accept their failures and negatives and hence don't listen to any form of criticism.

Don’t like to be corrected

This one issue involves ego to the max. Most men just don't like to be corrected. Men wish to learn the hard way. Men don't mind falling off the bike several times before they perfect their skill of riding it rather than listen to advices from others.

Power Struggle

To men, listening sometimes constitutes to accepting orders or failure. Their ego plays a huge part in trying to be the talker and not the listener. They would not want to give up their authority by listening in any manner.

Rationality

Not all talk in general by women are rational. But men can't tolerate irrational talk, hence end up not listening to their partners. Men would dismiss such talks after certain point.

Results

Men seek end results and returns out of their actions. If men are subjected to listening, half their mind is subjected to assessing if it is worth listening further. Men stop listening if the talk is more of emotional and sharing of feelings.

No brainer

Men in general think pretty women are no brainers. Hence tend to ignore their serious talks and hardly listen to their opinions. Most talking by such women are either ignored or pretended to be heard but men just won't listen.
