Back To School: Working Parents Are You Ready?

It is that time of the year when your kids need to pull their socks up in their shiny new black shoes , carry that heavy school bag and off to their new class. Mother of an eleven year old says its back to the rush, back to the grind but in a way on a more organised level and for a working mum the best part of the day is to get up earlier than the vacation period, to finish the much awaited jobs which one can do peacefully left alone. However, there are a few parents who resent the start of June, because apart from their office work, there are many other duties to be fulfilled as a parent for a school child and here are some of the common mistakes parents make with their children, when they are back to school.

Routine

It is very important for working parents to follow a routine when their child is all set to head back to school. Sleep patterns, vacation schedules etc should come to a full stop. Preparimg your child based on a regular schedule is easy for working parents and for the child's comfort.

Back To School: Working Parents Are You Ready?

Be patient

Today, there are a number of working parents who honestly do not have the time to be patient, which is a necessity! Beinmg patient with your child on the first day of school after their summer vacation is essential so that the child realises you understand their stance. Being patient with your child will draw attention along with love and concern.

Talking

Working parents should have the time to talk to their little ones no matter how busy they seem to be. Talking to your kids and spending time with them before they head back to school will help them gain insight for a new start in their new class. Getting abck to school for a toddler right after a summer vacation is difficult since all fun and frolic comes to an end being replaced with red and blue line notebooks and sharpened pencils.

Saying your goodbyes

It is difficult for a young child especially after a summer vacation to head back to school. Therefore, it is important for working parents to keep their goodbyes short and sweet when they drop their kids to school. This will avoid the child from crying and wanting to change routes away from school. Not to mention, do not forget to assure your child that you will be right on time at the school premises after the bell rings.

Mixed feelings, happy or sad, back to school comes once in a year and doing it perfectly is the key to happiness for a brand new start.
