Secret Relationships: Do They Work?

Many couples like to keep their relationships secret. This may be out of choice or compulsion. In the modern world, there are very few relationships that are a secret. This is the world of social networking and almost every single detail of our life is public. That is why, some types of relationship that are termed 'secret' are rare in our times.

A secret relationship can work even today. But it really depends on why you choose to keep your commitment in a relationship secret from the world. But then again, these types of relationships may also fail miserably because they are not in pace with our times.

Why It Works?

Lack Of Distractions: When your relationship is not in the public domain, you can get rid of many distractions. For example, you don't have to be constantly worried about what people are saying about you or your partner. You don't have to bother with hanging out with other couples.

Shared Secret: When a couple has a special secret of their own to guard, it brings them closer. They are full of secret joy that binds them close to one another. This shared secret can help this type of relationship work.

Compulsions: Sometimes a couple is compelled to keep their relationship a secret because of parental or societal pressure. In some situations, it can be good for a couple to keep their relationship under the wraps till the time is right.

Why It Doesn't Work?

Suspicion: If a couple is keeping their love life secret for a long time, then there is always a doubt as to what is the purpose. One partner may just get suspicious that the other partner doesn't want to reveal their relationship, because he or she has someone else in life.

Incompatibility: Sometimes, one partner is ready to reveal the relationship and the other is not. At that point of time, their is friction in the couple and the relationship might breakup. This is very common in secret relationships because no one is happy with keeping a secret in their love life forever.

Spill The Beans: It is very hard to keep a relationship secret forever. Somehow or the other, friends and family find out about the relationship. Then the couple might blame each other for spilling the beans and breakup.

Secret relationships are not very different from normal ones. They work if you are in a relationship with the right person.
