Reasons You Are Drifting From Friends

Drifting from friends is one of the most painful experiences of life. The worst part is that you never realise that you are actually drifting away until you have no old friends left. Then it strikes you that you have been moving apart from your friends and finally you are out of touch with everyone. We all are social animals and we 'need' friends to be mentally healthy.

That is why, drifting from friends is not at all a good thing. If you are drifting from your friends then you must know why and remedy the cause immediately. Your old friends are like mirrors; they reflect the best and worst in you truthfully.

So here are some of the possible causes for which you may be drifting from your friends, which you need to work on.

Drifting From Friends

Work Pressure

This is the commonest cause for losing touch with friends these days. We are so bogged down with work almost 7 days a week that we hardly have time to catch up with friends. So the good times that you have spent with your old friends in school and college do not recur now. No matter how busy you are, take a weekend off to meet up with friends. It is required for your own mental sanity.

Finding Love

Often, when we find love newly we tend to forget all about our friends. You don't want to meet up at your friends place for a movie night because you promised to take your girlfriend out for a dinner. It is important to find a balance between your love life and friendship. Always remember, it is your friends you will call the movement your girlfriend/ boyfriend dumps you.

Moving Cities

In the modern day and age, we are all very mobile. We do not settle in one place for long and keep moving cities. Moving away from the city of your childhood or place you studied can make you lose touch with friends. But this is the age of social networking so physical distance is no reason for drifting from friends.

Depression

The only other reason you are drifting apart from your friends is often self-inflicted. When you are depressed or suffering from emotional trauma, you may choose solitude. You may even push your friends away. But it is not a healthy sign. It is your friends who can help you rebuild your life again.
