Is Housework Only A Woman's Job?
It's a belief, but it doesn't look like one any more. The tradition seems to have infused even onto the minds of modern days husbands. In a survey that was conducted by the cleaning experts Vielda of 1,853 men, it was apparently found that, more than 70 per cent of all men do very little cleaning. To this, The Daily Express reports: "Another 38 per cent think domestic duties should naturally fall to women."
Vileda spokesperson, Lindsey Taylor, further corroborates: "We were surprised to learn that the age-old opinions about who is responsible for the running of the home still hold weight with many men". She is puzzled; the world boasts to the fact that the world they live in has broken all the prototype – then why not this? "We are supposed to be in an age of the 'new man', but the men's answers to our survey tell a very different story," concludes the lady, rather disturbed with the men's attitude.
But for some, good news seemed to have embraced them. When it came to women, the study revealed that two thirds of ladies believe that the extra pressures exerted by the credit crunch are actually turning their men into domestic gods. Thanks to recession. So, finally, there seems to be a good part of the recession too, at least. Three-quarters said their men now clean the house more than they did six months ago.
