Coping with an alcoholic can be painful but you have to do it for the sake of your child.

The reasons why you should keep you child away from his/her alcoholic father are many. Let take a look at some of the more important ones.

  • Your toddler is not an infant now. He/she can see his/her alcoholic father, observe him and also begin to comprehend his behaviour as unusual. That leaves you with the option of a day-care center where your child will be safe. If you are a working mother then this is your best bet.
  • Spend as much time away from home as possible. Take your child away from outings, picnics or interesting places like planetariums and museums. The basic idea is to take their minds of the fact that they are coping with an alcoholic father.
  • In spite of all these measures if you things go out of hand and you fear for your child's safety, then moving out with your child is your only option. You may or may not want to file for divorce depending on your personal situation but get your child out of the reach of an alcoholic dad.
