Prevent Hemorrhoids During Pregnancy
Hemorrhoids are blood vessels around the anus which get swollen. The swollen veins are generally located at the lower part of the anal area. The swollen veins or hemorrhoids stretch the vein walls causing irritated bowel movements. Hemorrhoids are also known as piles.
Hemorrhoids during pregnancy are quite common. Many pregnant women experience piles during pregnancy. This is because the hormonal changes reduce the digestion capacity of pregnant women which in turn causes constipation.

Drink Water and Liquids
To avoid hemorrhoids during pregnancy, drink a lot of liquids and water. Water is something which can naturally treat constipation. Therefore, drinking a lot of water will regularize your digestive system. Drink a minimum of 8 to 10 glasses of water to avoid constipation and piles during pregnancy. Drinking water is good for health anyways, it will help you to improve your body metabolism during pregnancy.
Eat Fiber
Fiber is considered to be good for improving digestion system of the body. When you are pregnant, eat a lot fiber containing foods like whole grains, fruits and raw vegetables. These foods will help in speeding up the digestion in your body. Hence, it prevents hemorrhoids during pregnancy. Fiber foods should be included in the diet regularly. Take your Doctor's advice before adding any new food in your diet routine.
Perform Pregnancy Yoga or Stretching
A little stretching movements of the body also helps in increasing the digestion rate of food. For this purpose, you may add some yoga exercises which can be performed during pregnancy. Breathing exercises and some floor exercises can be performed during early stage of pregnancy. Be careful while doing these exercises as they should not harm your fetus. Stop immediately if you feel any pain when performing these exercises to avoid hemorrhoids during pregnancy.
Do not stay static
For proper bowel movements you need to be moving as well. If you remain static and in one position for a long period of time, your digestion process tends to get slower. The constipation then leads to hemorrhoids or piles. Therefore, in some intervals of time change your positions. Lie down for some time, sit on a chair, walk a little and stand for some time.
Doctor’s help
If your piles during pregnancy do not reduce after taking precautions and natural help, go to a doctor. Do not take hemorrhoids during pregnancy lightly; they may cause a lot of pain during labor. Therefore, if nothing works, you need to take help of your doctor. Medicines are available for piles during pregnancy.
