One of the major problems faced during pregnancy is hypertension or high blood pressure. This type of case can be included in this; one is when a woman diagnosed with high blood pressure become pregnant and the other is when a pregnant woman is diagnosed with hypertension. Either way the condition requires special care to be given to the woman for a safe pregnancy and delivery of a healthy child.

There are three different types of hypertension in pregnancy; chronic hypertension, gestational hypertension and preeclampsia. While chronic and gestational hypertension goes away after some weeks, preeclampsia is a very serious condition, which may sometimes cause fatal consequences for both mother and the unborn child.
