When You Are Six Months Pregnant
The joy of pregnancy is a wonderful experience especially if you are expecting your first child. During the sixth month of pregnancy, you will come to know that your son or daughter has developed lungs which are now producing a substance called surfactant. This substance is very important for the lungs to function properly. The substance that is produced by the lungs during the sixth month of pregnancy helps to prevent the walls of the lungs from sticking to each other when your baby inhales.
During this sixth month of pregnancy, the development of the lungs just starts and this will not be completed until the time when your baby is to be born.
This crucial month of pregnancy is important for you to bond with your unborn and to enjoy every moment with the child in your womb.
At the end of the 24th week your baby will be around 10 inches from crown to rump and weigh 2 pounds. So make the best use of the sixth month of pregnancy! Pregnancy of six months marks the ending of the second trimester and most women find themselves less tired and happier, less moody and accusing no more nauseas.
Therefore, here are some of the things every expectant mother needs to do when she is six months pregnant.
Baby Movements
When you start to feel your baby move in your womb, it is an exuberant experience for the mother. You will start to feel your baby move in your tummy from about 18 to 20 weeks of your pregnancy. Feeling your little baby move in your tummy can be very assuring. It is important for the expectant mother to respond to your baby's kicks. Rub your baby bump when your baby moves and build up an exchange of kicks and rubs.
Walking
It is very essential to go for your walks when you are six months pregnant. It is an ideal activity during this time of pregnancy. The added advantage of going for a walk is that you get to spend some alone time with your baby and have a discreet chat with your bump. Walking for about 20 to 30 minutes when you are six months pregnant is good for health.
Baths
Every expectant mother should make complete use of her bath time. Having a temperature bath can release all your stress for the day. When you are six months pregnant, temperature baths are a must. Pregnant mothers should relax and breathe deeply when you lie in a bath tub. This also helps to ease your swollen feet.
Communicate
When you are six months pregnant, your baby's hearing has been developed. Talking and signing to your baby can be rewarding once you are aware that he/she can hear you. You might find this a little awkward at first, but when you get used to it, you will enjoy your chats. Your baby's familiarity with his/her mother's voice helps him/her to quickly form an attachment with you.
Swimming
When you are six months pregnant, the best and safest exercise is to swim. Some women fear that swimming is unsafe during the time pf pregnancy, but experts say that the gentle support of the water will provide relief during the later stages of pregnancy. So no matter how big your bump is, go swimming.
Massaging
The best place to pamper yourself is in a spa. When you are six months pregnant, a soothing way to bond with your un born baby is by massaging your baby bump. You can embrace yourself in pregnancy spas where safe massage oils are used to make you feel the connection between you and your baby. Getting a spa treatment during your pregnancy can also help to prevent stretch marks.
